The Best Parts in Thor: Ragnarok

Thor finds himself imprisoned on the other side of the universe, in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Incredible Hulk. Thor's drive for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the more powerful Hela from destroying his Asgardian civilization.

Thor: Ragnarok is the third of the Thor films and his eighth appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spoiler Alert! Here are some of the best parts of the film:

7. Thor's fight with Hulk. Although this part was spoiled by trailers, the Hulk/Thor battle proved to be, not only one of the movie's selling points, but also a really great fight scene. Thor unexpectedly takes on the Hulk, with an injection of humour as he attempts to calm his old friend down with Black Widow's "the sun is getting real low."

6. Korg, the Kronen warrior. Korg, while a bulky and strong rock alien from the Marvel comics, here, is a soft-spoken, likable side character. While he mainly provides setting for Thor, he also delivers some of the film's best lines and, like his fallen comrade, Doug, happily welcomes Thor into the fold as "New Doug."

5. Hela's fight scenes. This sister of Asgard was the most powerful of them all, and as such, is nearly undefeatable in combat. While her destroying of Thor's hammer was an impressive scene, she also kicked ass in nearly every fight she was pitted against, including a one-woman showdown with the soldiers of Asgard where she proved her swift and elegant movements to be deathly and murderous. Stabbing her through does nothing, as she really is the Goddess of Death.

4. Thor and Loki. Loki has been at odds with Thor since the very first movie, carrying over to the first Avengers film and into Thor: The Dark World. It's only natural that fan favourite continue. Here, Loki's plots are far-reaching as usual, except this time Thor is ready for them. As such, Thor is able to put his relationship with Loki into perspective and point out the Trickster God's inability to change. Such a claim proves useful in the end with Loki (not a fan of the "Get Help" charade that throws him into the enemy) as he decides Asgard is worth saving after all.

3. Bruce Banner on an alien world. When Hulk gets de-Hulked, the first thing that threatens Bruce Banner is the fact he's in unfamiliar territory. Not only is this stressful for him, but it also threatens to bring back the Hulk, which, at this point, could lock him as the Hulk forever.

2. Valkyrie and the Grandmaster. These two were an absolute delight in this film, with the ex-Asgardian Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson, Valkyrie's drunken entrance to her skillful and fearless fight scenes, to the Jeff Goldblum being Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, the brother of The Collector.

1. Thor as the God of Thunder. After he loses an eye, Thor begins to call upon the power of Asgard, first hinted in Avengers: Age of Ulton when he goes into a dream-state. With the power, Thor is able to take on legions of Hela's army and then Hela himself, drenched in a flow of lightning bolts and nearly ultimate Asgardian power.

This film, if anything, proved to be a fun romp into the realm of alien, which had much to thank for from Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarok's cast, crew and director Taika Waititi. It is well-worth the watch, a welcome addition to the MCU and the perfect jumping-off-point to the Avengers Infinity War films. Surely there were many more "best parts", as such a claim is subjective at best, so feel free to comment yours below.
